ART DIRECTION + DESIGN
Sondre Lerche's first four albums were released at a time when the CD reigned supreme and vinyl was considered dead. Years passed, the CD died, and fans demanded vinyl releases of these early efforts. In 2012 Yep Roc Records enlisted me to not simply enlarge and adapt the original CD artwork to the 12" canvas, but to create an overarching visual design that would tie these together to feel like a special set. Taking typographic cues from Sondre's then-current self-titled LP and leaning into the monochromatic simplicity mastered by designers like Reid Miles, I came up with a set of four album designs that feel timeless and at home with each other. In addition to the four reissues, I designed all-new covers for a concurrently released live album and a 7" single of new material.
